How Lease Auto-Activation Works

The LeaseCountdown component displays the remaining time until the lease start date for each lease.
Verify both preconditions are met: the lease shows that both the tenant and the landlord/PM have signed, and the start date has been reached or passed.

⚠️ Heads up: If either party has not signed, auto-activation does not occur. The lease remains in Signed status until all signatures are collected.
When both conditions are satisfied, the backend scheduled task automatically transitions the lease status from Signed (or Lease Signed) to Active.
The tenant is linked to the property, and the lease appears in the Active tab.

What to expect

The lease status moves to Active automatically. The tenant is linked to the property as an active occupant.

Symptom	Cause	Fix
Lease remains in Signed status past start date	Auto-activation task has not yet run or one party has not signed	Verify both signatures are present and wait for the scheduled task to execute
Tenant not linked to property	Activation may not have completed	Check the lease status; if still Signed, verify both preconditions are met
Countdown shows expired but status unchanged	Scheduled task may be delayed	Auto-activation runs on a schedule; check back shortly
